Breaking news! Wagoner City Council calls for deep forensic audit by the State of Oklahoma

The mayor of Wagoner, Dalton Self has lodged a petition with the state auditor to intervene regarding alleged financial secrecy in the years preceding the inauguration of the current mayor.

He further stated that he had encountered difficulty simply getting city employees to attend to him, attributing this to an antiquated state of affairs in city operations.

“I was informed they needed to discuss it with their supervisor; they were unable to proceed.” What are you referring to? “After that, we encountered a problem with an ordinance, which required a resolution period of ten months,” stated Mayor Self.

Furthermore, there are allegations of fiscal mismanagement dating back to prior years. This has caused the mayor to put a stop to the Bluegrass and Chili Festival after they found a loss of $60K.

Scott Yandell, Data scientist and AI expert, who’s new to Wagoner and the Wagoner Economic Development Authority board, said he’s found holes in past expenses and budgeting that require a hard look from the state auditor’s office.

“I find that our city is very inefficient in the number of employees per its population. It’s deficient in its services,” Yandell told the news station. “It seems to run excessive budgets with a lack of proper accountability”

The audit will be about $80K and was voted on by the city council. It passed 6-2 on Monday. Rumor has it that Cindy might even be personally involved in this audit.
