One thing that should be changed about the library is that people who don’t have a bill in their name with a Wagoner address, should still be allowed to check out books. There are alota people who live outside of town,or with friends or family, and the bills aren’t in their name.Or elderly/widows who the bill was in their spouses name.As long as the family member/friends give permission to use their address,or they have some sort of mail with that address,it shouldn’t be an issue.

Happy with library
-
$450,000 a year is a lot of money for such a small library that isn’t open 6 full days a week and doesn’t offer that much.
-
Do you use the library at all. Because if you did you would know exactly what this library offers on an every day basis.
-
Yes I have been several times. The library is terrible and provides zero value for most citizens. Not even one book on Javascript…
-
Lol well actually I was replying to Jessie but that’s ok. Then you know ALL THE REPAIRS that need to be done and you see first hand everything they ladies do for the community. Oh yeah that’s right you think they are terrible. Oh and do you even know how to use Javascript correctly.

The expenses for building repairs are entirely separate from staffing costs. As someone deeply entrenched in technology and thorough research, I recently engaged in a discussion with the Interim Director of EOLS concerning Wagoner. The revelations and recommended actions discussed during this conversation might not be suitable for general knowledge. To provide a glimpse into the financial landscape, consider the library budgets for Coweta and Tahlequah:
– Tahlequah: $41,000
– Ft. Gibson: $110,000
– Sallisaw: $13,500
– Muskogee: $8,500Navigating this discourse requires a nuanced understanding, and it’s apparent that it delves into areas you might not be equipped to navigate effectively.

That’s because it’s not a true statement. They are in need of a new roof and air conditioning this year.

I am aware of the excessive amount spent on the library annually. Yes, we need a library, but i feel the amount spent for 4 full time employees is a bit excessive. Where is the need for 4 full time employees? My opinion, 1 full time employee (which means only one set of benefits) and a couple part time people could handle any type of workload there could be there.
-
That is spot on!, typical library has 1.3 staff members per 10k of population. Our new budget for the library will be 50k max.

I think the library and staff are stellar!
-
Most people doesn’t realize what all the library doesn’t for are community. The summer reading program in its self is so amazing. Not only does encourage kids to keep reading all summer but it gives them something productive to do in the summer. There is no way our library could manage with only one full time employee. I think you people are on a witch hunt and wagoner community needs to stand up against you
-
Not on a witch hunt, but we don’t need 4 people sitting around drinking soda and eating candy. That is exactly what I have observed the 4 times I have been in the last 60 days
-
LOL do you not get breaks on your job. Do you have any idea what each person does on a daily. Probably not since you have only been in 4 times in the last 60 days. It’s sad that so people don’t do the research the just take other word.
-
Here is the library director.
-
LOL Yeah you picking a fight it clear like I said a witch hunt. You have only lived here maybe 2 years and I can navigate very well. You moved here from Florida right
-
huh? No he didn’t move here from Florida. Stop deflecting Janie

I’m in control of my domain. Gaslighting or threats won’t faze me. Just to clarify, we relocated from the West Coast, not Florida.
Any number you throw my way just adds fuel to selling more biophotonic glass jars

Good to know
My understanding is the 450 budget is because of major maintenance issues
-
You mean major neglect but no that’s not all the 450. Even taking off the roof money, they are still way over budget compared to other towns.
-
450k budget had 20k for roof. Try again, we only need 1.3 employee’s at the library.
Other towns get grants and
money that they don’t get. Ok you talk about the roof but what about the air units the camera’s it all needs to be fix. And as time 1.3 employees that’s bull. Spend some time up there and see what each of those ladies do. Do you plan on dropping summer reading program and other thing they offer because 1.3 employees can’t handle all of it.
-
Preserving the summer reading program, which is a valuable educational initiative, is a priority. The employees are often seen consuming soda and candy, with little evidence of productive work being done. Additionally, cutting down on silly expenses such as bottled water can contribute to a more sustainable and cost-effective operation. These changes could help ensure that the library serves its primary function as a place for learning and community engagement.
-
How often do you go to the library?
-
I’m in there all the time making copies or printing. The ladies are always nice to me. This is not about staff. This is not about cutting programs. This is about a citywide tightening of the belts. Less freaking out and more actual transparency.
